"What the hell, Vic?" Julian Keller asked as he settled into the seat across from Victor Borkowski. His eyes were locked on the baby in the harness strapped to his friend's chest, an expression of horror crossing his face. Victor stopped making silly faces at the little girl and looked up at the teacher.
"Nico's feeling under the weather, and Tommy's on duty, so I'm watching Rachel," he explained as the dark haired baby waved her arms about and made gleeful noises.
Julian gave Victor a truly horrified look. "You've been domesticated," he accused.
"I like kids," Victor retorted, sticking his tongue out at Julian.
"Then why do you never baby sit when Noriko asks you to?" Julian shot back.
"Because David is nuts. Besides, I'm almost never in Westchester. I watch the other Avengers' kids too."
"He's using you, man," Julian said seriously.
"It's more complicated than that," Victor said defensively. Rachel grabbed his nose and burbled, breaking the tension between the two friends. Victor turned his full attention to the little girl, getting her to release her grip. "How's Sophia?"
"Responding well to the treatments. Not so happy about her hair." Julian shrugged. "She says hi, by the way, and that she loved the flowers."
"I'm glad. Any sign of Kevin lately?"
"I was about to ask you the same thing."
"Damn."
"He'll show up when he wants to. You know how he is."
"Yeah, a regular Wolverine."
"Without the hair and claws."
"I thought that was part of his appeal," Julian teased.
Victor made a face. "Ew."
"Any real prospects on the horizon?"
Victor let Rachel grab his fingers, and she waved them around. "Tommy and I have reached an... understanding. It's complicated."
