Victor honestly wasn't expecting the knock on his door at this time of night. The only person who came knocking at this time of night was Tommy, and he was in California doing family stuff. Of course, if Tommy got into another fight with Nico...

He opened the door and found the other speedster in his life at his threshold. "Rachel, honey. What's going on?" He hugged the girl, smoothing back her silver streaked hair.

"The biologicals are making me nuts. Can I hide here?" Ray-Ray gripped him around the middle and squeezed.

"Sure. I was about to put on a movie. Any preferences?" Victor pushed the door shut with his tongue.

"Pirates of the Caribbean?" Ray-Ray asked hopefully.

"Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom? Sounds good to me."

"I am too young to be going grey," Ray-Ray said, tugging at her Lehnsherr-white forelock with a scowl.

Victor looked up from the DVD player, a disk perched on his finger. "Your father was totally white at your age," he pointed out. "And Northstar went streaky early. And Noriko's all grey under the hair dye."

"But I don't want to look like other speedsters!"

"You could always dye it."

"Hmph."

"There's nothing wrong with it, you know."

"I know."

"Of course, I'd ask Nico and Tommy before doing anything drastic."

"It's gonna be a week before Mom's bearable. You know how she gets when Karolina's on Earth."

Victor nodded, popping the new movie in. "Designed your costume yet?"

"Just got the finished version from the other Victor this morning. It's all high tech and stuff. I like it."

Victor put his hands on his hips, then stopped the DVD. "Get your shoes, honey.
We're going shopping."

For the second time that night, Victor opened the door to a super-powered child. "Hi, Hal."

"Good evening, Mr. Borkowski." Hal Lang looked up at him, coppery eyes glowing faintly under dark green hair. "Nate wants to know if Ray-Ray's here."

"She's in the bathroom."

The little boy nodded. "Nate says everyone else is going to be looking for her soon."
"You just let them know she's with me. Hi, Nate." Victor added as an afterthought, knowing perfectly well that the youngest Altman-Kaplan was likely able to hear every word he'd just said. Victor wasn't sure how Hal and Nate did what they did, and he found that it was better not to ask. The two could be incredibly creepy sometimes.

Victor heard the water cut off, and Ray-Ray came out, wearing one of Victor's old tee shirts, and grin, and her blue streaked hair. Hal blinked. "Your mother is going to have kittens," the little boy announced.

"Promise?"
