At first, Megan had thought it was really cool that the version of her in this other universe was a hot guy. But then she’d started spending time around him, and realized there was something subtly wrong about him. He was a little too dark, a little too intense. He was… scary, like Magik was. He didn’t talk about how he’d gotten the Soul Sword, and why his was so much bigger than her little dagger. She tried talking to the other X-Men from that reality while they waited for someone to figure out how to send all the people from her reality home, but nobody wanted to tell her anything.

It was while she was asking around that she realized that she hadn’t met the female version of Victor yet. Everyone else had a double, why not him?

Ultimately, Julia Keller filled her in on what had happened. How while Ivor Rasputin had ripped apart their Pixie’s soul, he had also broken their Anole physically, completely. Everyone had gotten out, but Vickie had left right after that, hiding from everyone, and Pixie had begun withdrawing from everyone, going all dark and weird.

While the Doctors McCoy worked on sending everyone home, Megan worked on trying to find a way to help her counterpart. And she was absolutely certain that bringing Vickie Borkowski back to the X-Men was just the solution.

“Hello? I know you’re here!”

Vickie closed her eyes, drawing her tail close to her body. The girl on top of the rock called her name again. Vickie continued to hide, scraping the tough hide of her arm against the stone that formed the nook in which she hid.

Go away, she thought. Just go away.

“Hel-lo!” Vickie could hear the girl scrabbling around the rocky outcropping, finally sliding to the mouth of her hiding place. “Ah-h-ohmigosh.”

The hard scales of her tail whispered against the stone as it coiled and uncoiled, and Vickie wrapped her arms around the part that had been her thighs, before Ivor Rasputin had wanted to see what strange new shapes her limbs would take after being removed. “What do you want?”

“I-oh. Hi. I’m, uh, Pixie, and I’m from another universe and you really need to come back to the X-Men because your Pixie really needs you and my God what’s that on your back?”

“Armor,” Vickie said, the tip of her tail twitching violently. “And I am not going back to the X-Men.”

The girl crouched at the edge of the sunlight, wings opening and closing slowly, a nervous tick she recognized from her own Pixie. She gave Vickie a look reminiscent of sad puppies. “But… I came all this way…” she sniffled. “And I worked so hard to find you!”

“Oh Christ, you’re gonna start crying… don’t-!” Vickie leaned forward, shifting the bulk of her tail out of the way. “Just… don’t. Please.”

Megan’s lower lip trembled and she continued to look at Vickie with those eyes. “You don’t have to stay but please, please, please come back with me.” The girl slid deeper into the little cave, reaching out to clasp Vickie’s arms, while carefully avoiding the spikes. “I need you to come back with me.”

There was suddenly a lot of girl in Vickie’s personal space. “Merlin doesn’t need my help,” she said, trying to wiggle back from the girl.

“Merlin? His name’s Merlin?” There was a pause as the pink haired girl blinked, staring off in to space. “God, no wonder he answers to Pixie.”
