“This. Sucks. Ass.” Bobbi Rae said into the open air She didn’t have to talk out loud, but even if it made her look like a nut job, she still preferred to speak out loud.
People die, Bobby Lee replied as Bobbi Rae put the flowers she’d picked up on the way down amongst the other offerings laid out for Eric Shepard. Flowers, candles, even stuffed animals and cards piled high in tribute to the fallen hero.
“That’s cold, bro.” She straightened up. “He was a good guy. He was family.”
We barely knew him.
“Only because you didn’t want to make friends.”
I had my own life, Roberta, One that had blessedly little to do with super heroes.
“Not the point.”
