that was so great! i loved zoe (usually dean ends up with a son but i thoroughly enjoyed having a father-daughter dynamic instead) and of course, cas and sam. i love the epilogue. of course zoe is a hunter and treats dean just like he does sam (she is a little dean after all. i thought that when she was first introduced lol).
I wrote Zoe as a kind of shadow archetype to Ben; biological daughter rather than quasi-adopted son, a crappy childhood as opposed to the relatively privileged one Ben had. She's also my answer to all these stories I've seen where Dean and Cas end up raising a baby. I wanted to play with a different dynamic, and I'm pleased that it's worked out so well.
In a lot of ways, I think Zoe's not that dissimilar from how Dean might have been at that age if he hadn't been thrust into the role of father figure for Sam
Being a hunter is just the beginning of Zoe's long and varied career dealing with the supernatural along side Dean, Cas, and Sam.
I really enjoyed Zoe, she was an awesome character. I would have loved more of Dean and Cas' relationship to be honest but I enjoyed the parts of it that was there.
This was fun! Despite all the plotty stuff, it was sort of quiet, somehow, and yet not at all schmaltzy; there's plenty of sentiment, but it's all buried pretty far under the surface.
Thank you! I'd place the credit on the plotty stuff actually being some of the last things I wrote for the story. Before that it was mostly character moments.
I really liked this! Zoe wasn't the perfect child you see in a lot of kid!fics, but a character in her own right with a lot of hurt and resentment and room to grow. Great job!
I enjoyed this, and thought Zoe was a very appealing character. I liked the mutual hostility between her and Dean that mellowed into something more teasing and affectionate :). Fun to see Meg as a pure villain again, too, being all violent and vicious!
Meg was surprisingly fun to write for this (even if she was almost as big a pain in the ass as Dean, which is one of the reasons why she didn't show up more in the story), and I'm pleased with how she turned out. Originally, I had planned for her role to be taken by Crowley, but I realized early on that the operation was too low key for the King of Hell, and I wanted to keep the number of OCs running about this story.
That and I occasionally suffer from the urge to shoot Meg for all the evil shit she's done to the boys over the years.
