I go to my little veggie patch an pick everything I need. Its also nice knowing I GREW IT! or its not handled all gross by grubby people who dont care about my veggies ( Read more... )

We LOVE our garden for the same reasons. But it sucks we only can have it a few months out of the year. Sometimes I wish we had a great big greenhouse so we could grow veggies all year long.

When i move back to Canada i am going to have a green house. Ive already looked into it. haha. It's great here that I can have a garden all year round except for my never ending battle with possums eating all the good stuff! I need to find a way to trick them in a still organic way.

Im also growing a pineapple! and looking into growing some passion fruits which I think ill miss in Canada.

Pineapple?? That is so cool. We tried to grow melon last year and none came up.

I've seen these motion sensor water squirter things that work for raccoons, maybe they'll work for possums too? We have a fence all the way around ours, so our main problems are mostly bugs and birds.

You should try and grow a pineapple and see if it works! just cut the top of one off and let it dry for about a week. It takes a year to grow so in the summer leave it outside to get all the sun and in the winter keep it inside near the window? it might work! it would be neat to see if you could get one going! I just got a cheap pot that is about a foot and a half deep and a foot wide. You don;t need to put it to deep in the pot just cover the bottom part.

pineapples are so cheap here that its easier to just get one for a dollar at the market then grow one haha.
