Sorry it took me a while to get to this. I had to skim back over the earlier chapters to refresh my memory :D

Darken helps her, but Kahlan can still only see the evil side of him. So when he points out that though she's now bound to him via the Devotional, she still possesses self-will unlike a binding via Confession - "Had I been Confessed and our positions reversed - I would have jumped." she's stunned into silence :D
