So season 5 ended with a bang. I knew Richie ended up suddenly 12 inches shorter, though I I had totally forgotten that it was an insane McLeod at the other end of the sword. I did remember the year in the monastery, though. Funny how the brain picks and chooses. the series fell apart after that. I absolutely remember watching the first 3 episodes of season 6, but I could not tell how the Ariman arc was resolved. Was it?
Speaking of Season 6. imagine my disappointment when three of the 4 main credited stars appeared in one or two episodes, and some where *none* appeared? I was pretty jazzed about the Fimmies to begin with, but six freaking episodes was too many in a row. Yes, they were trying on new Immortals for a spin off (which I did watch, for the records), but I ended up skipping Claudia Christian's altogether and bailing on Regann 20 minutes in. By then I had pulled up the laptop to figure out what the hell was going on, and got distracted by a hailstorm and didn't watch the second to last very closely, and the last not at all. I will go back and watch them, but it was late, and I was disgusted. Was there a writers strike that year, and that is why the 13 episodes? Canceled mid season by an outraged public? :) I feel cheated. I know they did the 2 movies (for which I am still scrounging bargain bins and pawn shops) that continues the Duncan McLeod canon, but I didn't know that there were a mess of webisodes, and audio episodes. I can only imagine that those are going to be really hard to dig up.
In closing, it was very interesting to get the canon whole an unexpurgated, though I believe that I am still rather tainted by fanon in so much of the theory, reasons and back story. Oddly enough, I am browsing through some archives looking for things I have read in the past to tag, but not really moved to read any thing new to me. I saved a few for a rainy day, but the toberead file is something like 350-400 bookmarks already so it will have to be a really really rainy month or something.
For some reason I thought the proverb was in like a lion and out like a lamb; it has been the complete opposite this year. It's been warm, pleasant and sunny all month until now. Last night's hailstorm was awesome and made a holy racket. Lasted about 30 minutes, and when it was over it looked like it had snowed; mothball-size hail covered the streets and grass . I had to turn the heat *back* on, and this morning some of those hailstones survive in patches. I doubt my roof survived, though, and it isn't insured (which is a long sad and evil story that only gets my blood pressure up, so I will skip, thanks). I got halfway through my taxes, and am waiting on a replacement 1098 from the mortgage company, and with that refund I can possibly get my roof repaired, so not all is entirely bleak. Infuriating, yes, bleak, no.
Did not sleep well last night and am dragging butt this am. I sat in bed and scribbled for a while, and I think I have figured out how to present the resolution to Theseus, HOMG. I've always known how it was going to end, and I knew there were things that needed to be shown as part of the ending, but there was so much chaff and litter by then, I literally could not see the shape under the surface =^^= I am going to take advantage of this week's Brain Defrost, and scribble like mad. I believe that this is my SGA swan song, as I am a serial monofan, and do not have the joy & wherewithal necessary to actually write in it any more.
Also, thank you Boy Unit for accidentally picking up the 'wrong' kind of coffee. He was sent off to the corner store for coffee grounds and came back with instant Folgers. I had been off coffee for a couple of weeks, it didn't taste good, and I couldn't drink more than a cup. The instant is exactly what I needed for my skewed taste buds; it complements the off taste in my mouth and I am actually enjoying it. Of course, I was well trained for instant coffee, I lived aboard a sailboat for about 5 years, and there was Zero room for a coffee pot of any kind. Weird taste is kind of interesting. I was making kitchen sink spaghetti last night and the bunch of parsley turned out to be Cilantro. I tossed some in with the zucchini and celery anyway. It was surprisingly good. The chocolate pecan pie was pretty good, too.
