This year has been kicking my ass so far, and after thinking about it, I need something to help relieve stress that I'll actually enjoy doing that won't turn into a chore. Given that most of my friends list is comprised of avalonians, I find this to be a good place to ask ( Read more... )

I'd ask Dave/Aramis, he's the most avid at learning actual classic swordsmanship & he's quite good at it from what I've seen. It's difficult to apply the skill exactly into a LARP setting, but I'm certain it helps some.

Yeah, I'm not planning to take it to Avalon or anything, it'll mostly just be a cut loose and relax type of thing for me.

Guns, they're less expensive n more cathartic. That and you're actually -less- likely to hurt yourself.

If you look into SCA there's probably fighter practice somewhere in your area, though they're kinda rough, they usually have a lotta folks who know their weapons.
