so, let's say you were gonna buy yourself a laptop. you've never really actually owned a computer all yours before, so you want new, not used/preowned. you don't really have an OS preference, tho if you end up going PC, you'd prolly be inclined to try to finagle a way to get XP, as you keep hearing how much vista sucks

just putting my "huzzah" in for anything mac.

I switched in January and LOVE it. So much easier and faster than a PC.

OH!! I have not forgotten that I promised that if you ever wanted to....I will BUY you a copy of WoW, just so you'll come play with me again! Got an awesomesauce guild here, too...

try the DELL refurbished section if you want a cheap and good laptop.
HP make good laptop too.

After I haven't worked much with laptops lately but once thing I remember is avoid ACER at all costs! trust me, I have opened enough of them to solder power connectors, change/fix LCD panel and fix other badly soldered stuff in them to say they're junk... they're cheap tho.
