also you have good taste in stuff (iggy pop, william blake (marriage of heaven and hell rulz!), vonnegut, etc.). how did i not internet meet you before?
also i'm anti angst and anti imperialism and pro firmly grounded morals too! haha i'm getting all excited. i made a big anti angst post a little while back. i'm so sick of that shit.
my revelation, although pretty weak, is that after reading the posts here and about everything on chicago09 I have no fucking clue what is going on, who is who, and what I'm doing at chicago next year. You seem to know most of the Lj people on uchicago2009 and what's going on on-campus. I'll be at the prospie thing next week and maybe I'll figure it out, but I already sent my forms in and got a confimation but I am now completely confused. Any answers? Also, liked the prospie bill of rights, but you forgot the right to get mugged when walking alone, 10 blocks from campus, at 3AM. seems fair to me.
I met so many people at the weekend, and when introduced to somebody (warning: everyone at U of C shakes hands when introducing themselves, which i thought was businessmanlike and weird), i'd ask their name, what dorm they were in, smile charmingly, and promptly forget all that information. so, i ended up asking those same questions..a lot. i don't know how good of a guide i would be.
If you think handshakes when meeting people is weird, try my school. All the guys shake hands all the time randomly. You get used to it pretty quickly, but when you get back to being with normal people and you do it out of habit people tink you're crazy. What I really want to know is if every conversation at U of C is about some weighty subject. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with learning and discussing interesting things with smart people, but I also enjoy caching up on sports, sex etc. Is everything at U of C so serious. (I started thinking about this when I read the post about the guy who passed out while talking about determinism.)

Your comment about "business in the front, party in the back" was hilariously charming.
