   The US Go Congress is in Portland this year, from August 2nd to the 9th. This could be a great excuse to visit Portland and play some go, but it lasts a whole week-a lot to take off work! And my birthday is that week. And if I were going to take a week or more off, I might prefer to just play capoeira, since work is more of an obstacle to that

I think you can opt to attend for only part of the Congress, maybe a weekend or something. That might be a good compromise.

When I was in China, I promised my friend Siu that I would attend his (I say his because his Go club is hosting it) European Go Congress in the Netherlands in 2009. Want to go with me?

I think I've visited Portland too much recently and if I'm visiting I have other places and people I need to see. I won't mind missing the big US event so much, though at first it seemed like a perfect setup.
