One minor nitpick... 3fgburner January 21 2007, 22:39:46 UTC
"In God We Trust" was added to the coinage in the 1950s. It was a McCarthy-era reaction to "the forces of godless Communism".

Not to mention all the atheists (Paine), Agnostics, Diests, Hellfire Club members, Jews, and etc that had a critical role in freeing this country. If it wasnt for the fact that no Muslims or asians were settled in the "New World" at the time of the revolution, there's likely be several noted fore fathers from that bunch of guys as well.

And the phrase "Under God" in the Pledge was added by Eisenhower for similar reasons.

I think the point being made is that if you look at our constitution, god is mentioned, as it was in many formal writs of the time.
In my opinion, it doesn't specify which god, or how many - just a diety. At the time, having a diety was fairly commonpalce and accepted.
However, looking beyond the deity issue, the rest is common sense. We have become a country of lazy, nonintelligent entitlement fiends.
