Bleh, feeling weird and emo and ... just all sorts of weird, IDEK. Naturally I decided to make it worse by finishing off The Office - I've been watching it most nights for a while now and I just wanted to be done with it. My feels:
- Big fat no to s9 in general, some decent episodes here and there but by-and-large it was baaaaad.
- Even bigger, even fatter no to Jim/Pam and Jim being a douche for large parts of s9. Not cool, show, so very much not cool.
- The fact that Nellie wasn't on this show longer is a travesty, an unacceptable travesty. (Amusingly I had the exact same reaction to her as I had to Donna Noble - first I found her grating and then it flipped completely over into "I LOVE THIS LADY" - I'm hereby dubbing this the Catherine Tate effect.)
- Andy really did turn into the WORST, and I used up all my forgiveness points on what the writers did to Jim so ... bleh to him. Such a shame, I loved him as manager in the beginning, I thought him and Robert California together made for the perfect Michael-replacements.
+ On the plus side, they brought back a lot of people for the final season and that will always score points with me. Obviously it would have been completely unacceptable to not have Steve Carell come back - I was never a huge fan of Michael but, well, I would have burnt Utica to the ground if he had been absent. :p
+ Happy endings for everyone, naturally I approve of this. I loved how they included pretty much everyone in the finale, everyone got a proper sendoff. Firing Kevin and Toby seemed a bit random though, not sure what the point even was there.
+ Highlight of everything for me: Seeing Jim and Dwight be the bestest buds I always knew they were. I remember people saying Jim was mean and a bully in the beginning for pranking Dwight but I always felt like they were secret BFFs. The final episodes of Jim being Dwight's second in command were just perfect and then him being the bestest best man for Dwight... Not even the Jam stuff made me as happy as seeing that. Ditto on Dwight and Pam's friendship. Actually:
+ Friendships in general is something this show did so well with, and one of the few things I really enjoyed during the final seasons. Pam had great moments/episodes with Nellie, Meredith, Angela, Angela with Oscar and Phyllis, Phyllis with Erin and Stanley, etc. And just the final bit where they're all just sitting around in the office and talking... Ugh, I know I was calling for the cancellation of this show like 2 seasons ago but... MY BABIES. <3
All in all, very bittersweet, very good by finale standards, successfully ensured I would miss it even though I'd quit watching like 3 times already.
In other news ... not much, really. *Shrug*
