No Water
I was pointed in the direction of Veron's List of Restaurants That Do Not Serve Free Water, which brought to mind my experience at the Gelare Cafe Hougang Mall in the not too distant past.
It was a Tuesday (1/2 price waffles), I had been running errands and wanted to treat myself. As it was a hot day and I was thirsty due to all the running around, I decided to buy a bottle of water and asked the waitress for one.
“Can I have a bottle of water please?”
“I’m sorry but we don’t serve water.”
“I understand. Can I have a bottle of water please?”
“I’m sorry but we don’t serve water for free.”
“Yes, I know. Can I have a bottle of water please?”
“We do not serve free water.”
“But you sell bottles of water, yes?”
“Oh!”
