Laid Back Weekend

Wow, what a great two days of just doing nothing this weekend has been. It was a hell of a week and I just needed to decompress, so I opted out of any potential plans for yesterday or today and sat around watching old sci-fi movies.

Has anyone here seen the movie Outland with Sean Connery? I'd never even heard of it until recently when the ( Read more... )

Hehe, yeah. I downloaded episodes 1-6 and just watched the first one. It was a lot of fun and I'm looking forward to seeing where they go with their band.

Old movies are good for that. Like that one above, Outland, just the look and feel of it was so nostalgic for those old sci-fi movies I grew up with.

And you're welcome. :) Yeah, I know all too well with diabetes issues in my family that it's not good to go cold turkey and not have any sweets. Moderation is the key. If you try to not eat any, then you'll just build up a craving and then gorge on too much. A little here and there is fine. *munches on churros*
Oh man, I found these at the Spanish market across the street yesterday. They're like the ones at Taco Bell but in a bag. *drools*

I always loved Outland. Silent Running is good, too, but probably considered slow by today's standards. Capricorn One is cool, though not exactly a sci-fi movie.

Yeah, my whole retro kick this weekend started off of Outland and Silent Running. I was listening to an interview with Duncan Jones, the director of the upcoming Sam Rockwell movie "Moon". He mentioned how he was inspired by old sci-fi movies that focused on normal people in space and name-dropped those two. I hadn't heard of either, so I decided to check them out. Silent Running sounds pretty interesting, so I'm looking forward to that.

Capricorn One looks to be good, too. And you're right, it's not really sci-fi. Science thriller? Sci-Thri? :)

Hey, you! Now, how'd you get your hands on a dreamwidth invite, you sneaky thing? (Though, I totally would have given ya one if you'd asked. Its weird: I thought they were trying to limit invite codes and I requested one more: and they gave me two on one journal and two on the others.)

But anyhoos, looks pretty fancy, huh?

Heh, I actually got one from my friend Zelly right before I saw you offer yours. Just set it up this morning.

It looks pretty cool. I haven't done anything beyond setting up the account yet. I'll get down to the nitty gritty later tonight and get some icons and such going.
