Today I am devoting my journal to Kevin, because I miss him and he is in Israel. Also, he is exceedingly vain and looking at pictures of himself when he reads my journal will make him very happy.

I recently went to my friends' house to watch the movie "Amityville Horror". I don't like horror movies. Okay,here's a little more info on my trip. Our last night in Yangon we visited the Shwedeggon again and I was accosted by a temple merchant who shoved a baby sparrow in my hand and demanded a dollar. Well...my journey draws to a close, and I've done a terrible job of keeping up with this travel journal and sending postcards and all the rest. At least I have presents for everyone. Okay, so in Yangon we went to the Shwedegon Pagoda. this is an enormous stupa with a complex of connected smaller stupas and temples. It is really stunning and peaceful. People are there praying, meditating and when they get tired of being religious they just stretch out in front of Buddha and take a nap. Anyway, it is in the top ten sights so ( Read more... )

Okay. So I'm not dead. I have not been arrested for political dissent, and I am in Vietnam. This will probably be my last post for awhile because we are flying to Myanmar (Burma) tomorrow morning and there isn't exactly internet there...well there's some, but you're prohibited from accessing email or anything like that.
