They printed a news article about it in our local newspaper yesterday. Other than that I really haven't heard very much about it from the mainstream media. This is absolutely insane that places/issues like this still exsist.

Not to mention the only sustainable injuries on the "white kid" was a swollen eye and a concussion. The police report states that he was "kicked". He was charged with attempted murder. But due to the kind mercy of the all white jury, they reduced the charges to 2nd degree battery and "conspiracy to commit". Apparently, in this town "Jena, TX", it's still okay to chase and harass black people for entertainment. makes me sick.

I heard about this in some of the political communities I keep up with on livejournal, but that's about it.
This is absolutely horrifying -- I hope he finds justice.

my dad says that the whole justice system is messed up in texas(houston) he says cops kill black people all the time for no reason and its just covered up by everyone. it really doesnt surprise me as much as it disgusts me.

my statement still stands though... being black in houston(and other areas obviously) really does seem to be a crime.

It's just hard for me to understand the fact that people still have the mindset that the color of your skin or ethnic background has anything to do with your intellegence or right to do anything you please... I want to do something for these boys because they are going to be sucked into a system that is hard to get out of.

ps. did you hear that Greg Holsted(sp) is on the real world?
I though you, me, and dan should get together for a good laugh.

I didn't realize the Texas Judicial System hasn't been updated since the 60s. This is sickening. That's entirely too long for a fight at school. I'd like to know what the two boys got for hanging the noose at school.

3 days suspension, instead of being expelled.
