There was a lot more to it than the video showed. That was a private seminar, and they asked the kid multiple times to leave. He interrupted the last question of Kerry's time to ask a question that was really just attacking Kerry. You heard it. It had nothing to do with anything. There's a whole long story behind it, and I read it. He probably shouldn't have been tasered, however he shouldn't have been resisting arrest either. But he did deserve to get arrested, as would anyone.

actually... it was not a private seminar as you call it. It was supposed to be a town hall style forum, which is why he was originally upset at not having a chance to speak, only 8 students did that day. beyond not being a seminar, and touted as being a town hall style meeting. It was an accent produced event and as such was open to any member of the public, student or not, though he happened to be one ( ... )

Oh. Sorry about that. I must have heard wrong. I heard from another student who was supposedly there, but then again, it's all hearsay.

i wasnt there myself. the police report is available, i dont have a link on hand but it shouldnt be too hard to find.
they paint him as an attention whore, which he probably is, but his actions according to the police, werent consistent with the charges against him

so sarah, what i think of this is that police powers are becoming too broad. Its expected now that whatever an officer tells you to do, you must do it. This is the same way we expect soldiers to respond to their superiors in the military, but we arent in the military, we arent trained that way.
yes the student is a jerk and has some weird opinions, but this event brings up a more important issue of what the appropriate action is when you are being unjustly arrested, do we just go to jail and wait for a judge to decide? being arrested is never pleasant, even if no charges come from it.

There are much better videos on youtube/ current tv that capture the whole incident in it's entirety. His first question was reguarding the hundreds of thousands of votes that were "supposedly" disenfranchised during the 2004 election in volusia county. These were referenced by a book (i forgot which one). He also stated something about Bush being impeached, and juxtaposed it to Clinton and a blowjob. And before being "escorted", he asked if Kerry was a member of Skulls and Bones club at Yale. Kerry obliged to all of these questions. It was the fact that these police officers or whatever they were, were not trained to handle certain protocol such an incident. Sure the student was resisting arrest, but what the hell was he going to be arrested for? talking on the mic for too long.

i forsee a huge settlement being paid to that student, and i hope he gets a good lawyer.

So obviously, I know everything and this is what happened:
He barged in, causing a scene. Skipped a bunch of people, took the mic and started talking. He was very vulgar and just trying to get attention for publicity, the kid has a website and bullshit like that.
But, he did throw his hands up immediately, saying he would cooperate. Then, when he was threatened to be tasered, he said that he would willingly go, and to please let him. Then they tasered him, which is bullshit.
Either way, fuck the police.

My friends are friends with him, and they were there, by the way.

It shows him pushing and walking away from the cops. It looked like resisting to me.
