City at Night

Aug 09, 2008 21:25

Grant requested a picture of a tree attacking a city...and this is what came out of my pen...not exactly what he (or I) intended... but I still like how it turned out...
This is done in ink (yay for colored ink) Inkwash is my new favorite media (except my lovely rapidographs. those are my FAVORITE favorites)

anyways, ( NEW ART )

I love the foggy, water in the center and the grassy shore that sort of mimics the man-made skyline at the top.

I get this feeling something terrible is going to happen beneath those street lights .....I hope it does anyway. :D I do like the blue highlights.

Very nice.

When I first read your description all I could picture was a giant tree with a face and teeth.

This is really wonderful! I love the little splashes of blue, and the way you use ink has always just entirely impressed me. I love it.

The water is amazing ^___________^

lol that would also cute- maybe for my halloween cards... Grant originally suggested a tree stump with stuff coming out of it going towards a city like a cloud or something, and I wanted to make little architecture bugs coming out of the stump and then piling on top of each other and making a city, but this is what I ended up with...

thanks:)

I love the splashes of blue in the image! They really pop! The reflections are so beautiful and realistic. It's so amusing they came out of a tree attacking a city!

I didn't originally have the tree colored blue, but it really does make it pop out a whole lot more, doesn't it. Thanks- I had really good references for the reflections. I was looking at a bunch of pics I took when I was in venice, and also a couple pics of boston from the harbor, and the rest of the skyline is NYC.
