I loved the way the sheets smelled and felt against my face. Fresh flowers were brought in daily because I made a comment once about how much I loved them. Life was good, or at least it would appear to be good from anyone on the outside. After all I was once a cow slave and now I was Queen, Queen of this interesting land called Pylea. I tried ( Read more... )

Narwek came through and did the usual routine of cuffing me around the head and ordering me to attend the Exulted One. I cringed and nodded meekly when really I wanted to throttle his scrawny neck. I settled for sticking out my tongue as soon as his back was turned and making a rather obscene gesture which doesn't really translate so I won't bore ya.

I entered Queen Winifred's bed chamber, keeping my posture bowed in a reverent fashion and as I approached her bed I fell to my knees and placed my cheek to the ground, arms splayed out to the side.

"What do you command oh ruler of my body and soul?" Really it wasn't so bad abasing myself for Fred. Kinda had a nice ring to it.

"That is all Narwek." I said with a stern expression. "I would prefer not to be disturbed for a while." Narwek gave me a weary look but he knew better than to argue with me. When he had finally left I gave Lorne a look that meant he could stop groveling now. There were times I was rather convinced that Lorne did not mind the groveling, it made me incredibly uncomfortable though.

“So have you heard any gossip or had any empathic activity? I think they will demand a vision soon.” I look at Lorne a little desperately; I knew my time as queen was about to come to an end if I did not have a vision any time soon.

I got up from my abject position once the weasel had left and sat next to Fred the Exulted One.

"Honey, I'm trying my darnedest but not a peep. Maybe things are, you know, gonna be nice and quiet for a time. Oh who am I fooling...I am doing everything I can to rustle up something for you to proclaim." I patted her hand. She was an odd Queen, and I was grateful she hadn't treated me as a true slave. I wanted to help her survive in Pylea if I could, but lately leads were drying up. Being an empath wasn't all it was cracked up to be.

"I promise if I sense anything, even if it's a stubbed toe, you'll be the first to know." I smiled down at her, strange how a pale beige skin could be appealing.

" Alright so no visions today, maybe they would buy that story about visions being cyclical and this is part of the cycle where I have no visions." I look over to Lorne wondering if this lie would even convince him. Damn, he was clearly not buying it. I rest my head on his shoulder and sigh.

“I am doomed, we are doomed. You know they already suspect I am a fraud. My visions are less than stellar even when I do have them and I have not been delivering. Anyway I can tell they do not like me, not like I like them either. No offense, but this is really not the place I want to be.”
