The short of it: I placed 3rd out of 31. This resulted in me earning my B10 Rating! This is the second highest rating one can receive as a fencer. I overall had a great tournament showing.

I have not written for a while because most people don't care of these but I felt like doing it anyways.

This tournament was the annual Citrus Open that is held in our division. I was also running and directing this tournament as well as fencing it. I had an ok start in the Pools, but now up to my normal standards for my experience now.

Adam Illingworth (B09) - A very fast and explosive young fencer. He had been away from fencing for a few week but it does not show. It is hard to explain technique, because with Adam it is very high level fancy stuff. During the bout Adam and I got close and them he hit me hard with a wind up which ended up cutting me and injuring me bad. I ended up losing 5-1, which is bad, and my one bad bout due to the injury. However it would come to be my trump card

David Polakoski (A10) - A high level very in shape gym rat that has extremely high level of fencing. He and I fenced a few time before and we changed a few great touches but he ended up winning 5-4

Ken Yen Huang (C08) - A foilist that I defeated before in the past. He's a nice guy and fun to fence with. Just having known he style and practice. I was able to out muscle and use my youth again him and won 5-3.

Kelsey Moore (U) - a young female that seems to be new. She surprised me the very first touch and caught me way off gaurd. However after I "woke up" it was pretty one sided.

Overall I had two victories and three losses. A rather bad start. However it is not where you started but how you finish. I had the injuries tended you and they wrapped me really good. I was bleeding heavily and I was about to withdraw from competing further, however I decided to go on.

Round of 32: Doug Cairns (C09) - A bit of history. If you look through my journals and records. You'll see that I fenced this guy 8 times now. Having lost EVERY single one of them. So of course I was rather not looking forward to it. However you can watch it here:

I just stuck to my game and waited things out and a few touches when my way. I was excited and pumped because my injuries seemed to calm me down. Doug was happy for me that it happened and wished me the best and said I should win it now since beat him. so I tried hard...

Round of 16: Kendall Small - A nice young man who started fencing about same time as me. He is very talented and someday with be big in this sport I can tell. He lead most of the match. However like With Doug I started waiting him out. Soon enough he started making small mistakes that I capitalized on. I was down 10-13 at the near which was tough, but I went 5 in a row to win 15-13 which was a super upset. Again my injuries made me calm down and focus my blood elsewhere. Weird

Round of 8: Adam Illingworth (B09) - Second time! So the person that Injured me was up again. I figured this was going to be fun having been dominated eariler. However this bout I dominated him. He had all his coaching staff and friends there cheering him on, but my new calm motionless style injuried was just hitting him all the time. He got some good hit on me, but in the end. I just did simple action and got him upset. During the bout several time clearly getting mad and breaking his weapon. Unsport like I few time taunted him to attack me so I can double out, however it's part of the game and we old people do that. I ended up winning 15-11 and was now in the top 4. Earning at least my B10.

Round of 4, Guy Winton IV (B10) - Another young high level fencer that just outclassed me. Nice guy that ended up winning and getting his A. which I was happy for him. Their really not a lot to say but that I got beat fair and square.

Overall a good day getting hurt, doing best ever and learning that I am awesome when hurt. With my B10. I am no longer allowed to fence Div III or Div II. I am now a Div I fencer. The elite class.
