RETURNING: One other character; Troy Bolton.
[CHARACTER INFO]
CHARACTER NAME: James Bond
FANDOM: James Bond, movie and book canon, but to save on the confusion and continuity and such, this Bond will mostly be based on Daniel Craig's Bond, and therefore basically just involve the movies Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace.
CHRONOLOGY: From the end of Quantum of Solace.
CLASS: Vaguely a hero, but not always. He's kind of chaotic neutral or something. He will occasionally help others, but it's generally to do with the grander scale of things or self preservation. Basically, he's a bit of a bastard sometimes. As for dogtags, he'll no doubt be rid of those the second he arrives and strike out on his own.
SUPERHERO NAME: Just for the irony he'll probably tell the 'porter 007.
ALTER EGO: He'll be giving out numerous names and fake jobs. Or will do until people work out who he is.
BACKGROUND:
For all intents and purposes, many would assume James Bond to be a well-educated man of money, a womaniser, a smooth talker and possibly even an occasional gentleman, born of a Scottish father and Swiss mother, and a traveller of the world. But life hasn't always been quite so kind to him.
The biggest event in his life happened during his childhood, when at only eleven years old, both his parents were killed in a mountain climbing accident in the South East of France, leaving Bond orphaned. Previously he was educated in Switzerland and Germany, though after his parents death, he was to live with his aunt (who he later lost during his late-teens) in a small English village where he continued his education from home for some time, privately tutored by her. He was later briefly sent to Eton College, a boarding school near Windsor, but after constant curfew violations and 'trouble' with one of the maids, he was promptly expelled. Not long after, he was sent to Fettes college in Edinburgh, where he excelled in both educational and athletic involvements. James even took up boxing for the school, as well as forming a school league for judo.
At the age of seventeen, he joined the Navy, once again excelling in his training though stumbling upon some trouble due to his unconventional methods and his approach to his superiors. Though he started his early service as an intelligence officer, he soon moved on to the Special Forces Unit, besting his colleagues with his techniques and sailing through assignments with little difficulty while climbing the rank structure. After more than proving himself, James was rewarded the rank of Commander and recruited by the RNR Defence Intelligence Group, where he was to aid in gathering intelligence.
By the time he was in the MI6 and only thirty years old, Bond was known to be more than capable of performing any task, though rather less capable of strictly following orders despite his military background. His need to push himself had him rising to the challenge of becoming a 00, and the rest is indeed history.
He gets involved in a high-stakes poker game, falls in love, gets his heart broken, gets his balls busted, screws over a big-time villain, sleeps with numerous women, kills a lot of people, has chases in every vehicle imaginable, pisses off M, makes up with M, gets sort of suspended, finds out about an organisation called Quantum, screws over an organisation called Quantum, pisses off the American Government, pisses of the British Government, pisses off most other countries, gets reinstated, continues to be James goddamn Bond.
PERSONALITY:
Since the loss of his parents at a young age, plus the death of his guardian in his teens and the disappearance of his second father figure, James Bond has tended to steer clear of any and all commitments, be they friendships or relationships. His abandonment issues lead to him displaying no interest in the concept of a long-lasting relationship and the idea of love, while his friendships tend to never last, or be somewhat irregular. He's a lone wolf, if you'll forgive the phrase, far more attracted to solitary approaches, even in the form of hobbies, of which he has many, including climbing despite his family tragedy. And yet he carries himself with a casual ease, interacting with people comfortably and often attracting many with his attitude and lone personality, even if he doesn't purposefully seek out companionship. Unless, of course, it's for sexual activity.
Despite encountering death from an early age, he doesn't pretend to have much interest in it, refusing to put any fear into the idea of death and all too often endangering his own life for the sake of risk-taking. Bond likes to push himself, mentally and physically, and isn't happy unless he's being exceptionally challenged or is at a high risk. In fact, without those factors, he tends to lead himself into boredom and depression. He needs something to focus on at all times, and enjoys seeking and setting goals that he can approach and achieve without letting his emotions get in the way.
For those that get to know him for more than just his easy approach and dry wit will no doubt find him to have a fairly developed sense of humour, of which he tends to use for most situations to cover for any insecurities or uncomfortable moments. Though when he's at a loss for words, he can have quite the opposite reaction, withdrawing from the outer world and watching it from within a cynical and unimpressed bubble, making him unwilling to co-operate. His casual attitude often puts him in trouble with his superiors, as he not only fails to follow direct orders that differ from his own ideas, but he also finds amusement in pushing the boundaries of rank and structure, even if his attempts at rebelling are often subtle.
And yet despite all his faults, his failings, and his habit of coming across as a total bastard, James Bond is loyal through and through to not only Queen and Country, but also those close to him.
POWER:
Bond's main power will be a nod to the older canons. He'll be able to pull any gadget from his pocket that will be entirely useful to whatever situation he's in. So if he's stuck behind a heavy iron door or some such, he may well have some fancy laser pointer thingy that cuts through thick iron. Idk. To be honest, he'll probably barely ever use it, but it's basically canon. xD
Edit: NEW ADDITION TO POWERS AS OF 08/02/2010: It's been a slow developing power that's only just making itself known, but Bond has now become a human punching bag. He now has the ability of increased endurance, meaning he can withstand a hell of a lot more of a beat down. Sharp impliments will still slice in precisely the same way as before, but drop him off an apartment block and he's likely to get up after it. Pain and injuries will still be sustained, he's just harder wearing now and a lot more stubborn.
Also the ability to turn any lesbian ever. What?

COMMUNITY POST (FIRST PERSON) SAMPLE: [video]
[The comm switches on to reveal the face of an entirely uninterested looking male. Blonde hair, blue eyed and strangely charming despite the thuggish look about him. The small smirk on his lips possibly helps with the charm, if nothing else, giving off an odd mixture of weary yet genuine amusement. He's soon breaking the moment of silence with a heavy sigh and when he finally speaks, it's low, bored and distinctly British with what seems like a constant flow of sarcasm coming from it. Please forgive him, he's already tired and fed-up and he's only been here a few days.]
I thought it was about time to show my face on this thing. Robert Sterling, Universal Exports.
So, the City?
I assume the founders of this fine city were incapable of creativity when it came to naming this place. Still, at least it's easy to remember. One can find it quite a struggle to remember so many things in such a new place.
Speaking of, I take it kidnapping is general protocol in this area?
Unless I'm one of the lucky few. ... Oh, I do hope so.
[The camera shifts with him as he gets himself more comfortable, relaxing back against the headboard of an elaborate looking bed, though he's staying fully clothed, you'll be pleased to know.]
Now. I figure at least one of you hopeful few will know this area better than I, so tell me, are we living in some sort of anarchist commune, or have I just failed to witness any form of policing? I find it incredible that we supposedly live in a city full of heroes, and yet I've failed to witness anything but petty thieves running riot amongst the civilians.
An interesting set-up, I must say.
LOGS POST (THIRD PERSON) SAMPLE:
The dogtags had gone the second he'd arrived in this place. The last thing he needed is something that could easily identify him. Something that could track him and pinpoint exactly where he'd be staying. Giving up free housing was a small sacrifice to pay for remaining untraceable. Besides... Bond didn't do basic accommodation, not when he could do so much better, and believe him, he has his methods.
Admittedly this whole situation was surreal, he almost felt out of his depth, but this is precisely the sort of thing he lived for. This was him being pushed to his very limits and he loved it, whether he'd admit to that or not. There's absolutely no nostalgic thoughts that have him craving a return home, and any panic about being somewhere entirely new had been quelled the second he felt it rising. This is just like any other mission he's ever been sent to, new place, new people, new life, new Bond. He'd have to start all over, ease himself in slowly to a new lifestyle, but that's what he always does.
James is already doing some precise analysing of the city as he easily blends into the crowds on the streets, piercing gaze not missing a thing as he takes note of each building, each person, each car and each sound. He's only been outside a matter of minutes and somethings already caught his attention, and without a second thought he's casually ducking into a generic dark alleyway between two high-rise blocks. It's a typical sight around these parts, he assumes as he boredly spares a side-glance to an over-weight crook hiding away, bent over to rifle through the findings in his latest handbag and wallet snatches, fumbling through a genuine leather shoulder bag for anything of worth. Bond hasn't been spotted yet, of course he hasn't, the thief is far too engrossed in his current task to be paying attention.
It's why this is so easy for James, really. He moves swiftly but without effort, grabbing quickly at the crooks chubby wrist, disabling him for just a moment and allowing Bond to yank the male up to his feet, just in time for him to deliver one smooth, sharp backwards elbow to the bridge of the nose. The crook is out like a light within a matter of seconds, giving Bond free reign on searching through the bags and wallets, and of course- the crooks own wallet is now his too. He only takes what he needs, a nice stash of money and a few bank cards. He'll withdraw the money immediately, ditch the cards, and leave it at that. There's no sense of guilt at who he might be stealing from. He needs their money more.
Swift work has him in and out of that alley in under a minute, blending back in with the crowded street and working his way to the curb so he can wave down a cab. Local knowledge is just what he needs, and cabbies always know best. Next stop, a place to stay, no doubt some highly priced hotel where he can stow away and find a few rich, married women.
FINAL NOTES ABOUT YOUR CHARACTER:
Again, I suck at applications. I freak out. Just say if anything needs re-looking at, cause it's been a while since I've played a non-cracky character. xD
