I was looking for a mechanic for testing willpower for LoB 3. I may try this out tonight or tomorrow and see how bad it feels and may use it.

I wonder how hot/cold the water has to be.

Well, it does say "warm," not "hot," so it sounds like it doesn't need to be too extreme. There are probably more detailed descriptions available; that was just one paragraph in an article that was about an experiment where it was used.
