[Fujiko's in a bad mood. Not that this is unusual per se, but at least when there were crazy things running around she had things to take her frustrations out on. Now she's low on bullets, and in a foul mood.]

Everybody leaves. [BANG!]
Why bother. [Bang bang bang!]

Che. And I finally got my iPod charged to show him... [But she doesn't seem ( Read more... )

[... Funny. The last time Fujiko and he talked, Raphael was gone then, too.

But this time it's worse. This time it's possibly forever.

Robert doesn't know how much help he can be, but... his timid voice reaches out to her, tentatively, like he's afraid of being lashed out at. With most of his friends gone even temporarily, he isn't sure what to do, except... except try to help.]

... M-Ms. Mine...

[He wants to say that he's sorry, but he doesn't think it'd be good enough. Not even close to good enough.]

Ah... my friend Helios u-uses his magic to benefit others as well.

... But I suppose you have a point. [Especially since magic is highly individualized in Luceti, whereas general Lucetian physics are universal. Of course, physics for the people themselves are very individual...] Just... I am not certain exactly how much assistance I can be in this regard...

TVs, communication devices, anything you want to do, sugar.

That is more Mr. Japan's area of e-expertise than mine.

... If... if I could assist though... perhaps. [And Robert shifts shyly a little bit in his seat.]

... I am... n-not used to a situation in which I am so routinely unhelpful...

I'm sure he wouldn't mind the help. He seems to have a lot of requests for stuff.

What is you do back home again?

I am an... astrobiologist, for the Randi Institute - a prestigious s-scientific institute in my part of Linden. I... mostly contribute to the body of knowledge surrounding exosolar life-forms, based on reports coming in from p-probe data and the like...

... Admittedly, I... enjoy dabbling in the sciences in general. [And Robert's version of dabbling is more like diving into the deep end.]

So basically everything here, huh?

Yes, more or less.

... [He brightens noticeably after a moment.] If there were... some way to bring this information home... w-well, I am certain the Head Institute would be delighted at the sheer volume of data that is present here...

Maybe you can work on that next. A way to cheat their system, hm?

It would require... b-being able to direct the signals outside of the barrier.

[And that is something that Robert thinks just might be impossible.]

Or store something inside of you.

... Encoding data in myself...?

What if the Malnosso were... to undo my efforts...? [Something like a tattoo would be easy to remove.]

Make it something they can't find? [Shrugs. While she might work with crazy scientists types, she tends to leave it to them to figure out.]

[This will give him something interesting to think about as an eventuality. But at the moment, he's pretty certain it would be next to impossible - especially considering the Malnosso can modify a person's body nearly at will.]

... If... I can th-think of something, perhaps. I am certain it has been... attempted before, though.

So? There's a first time for everything sugar.

In order to succeed, it would... have to be a rather s-statistically unlikely first time...

... Still, you are always a f-fascinating source of potential inquiry, Ms. Mine.
