My early contractions felt like what you described in your last entry... the "something" feelings up inside that weren't obvious, but were definitely SOMEthing. I had very few obvious, tummy-clenching contractions until I was in transition.
There are other signs of labor besides contractions, though, and MOST first labors last a while. My advice, pre-prep everything you can, so you won't have to worry about being rushed. You probably won't be, but you'll keep wondering abuot the "what ifs" anyway. :)
Thanks for the input. :) I've been having 'somethings' all today but not escalating or regular so I'm trying very hard to just let it be.
We are pretty much prepped; supplies are gathered, 'go bag' is ready if we have to transfer, and I have a nice little list of everything to be done, in order, ready...pretty much the only thing that will need to happen once we are "a go" is to fill the kiddie pool I'm using as a birthing tub, and plastic over the bed (and cover with a cheap sheet I don't care about). But filling the pool will take a while and the midwives have a half hour drive, so I can still manage to find something to worry about. :)
Same, I didn't realize I was starting labor until I realized the tiny twinges I was feeling were at regular intervals. It took a long time for them to get serious. But I lost my mucus plug the day before, so that was my first sign that my time was close. (Also: ew.)
I didn't realize you were planning a home birth! Hope all goes well!
