The Ending of Things

My Dad passed away, I guess early Saturday morning, I hope peacefully, in his sleep.
I checked about 1am that morning, Dad was still breathing, fast and shallow.
So when I awoke at 8am, I was dreading having to check him but I did and that's when I found him.
I knew he didn't have long, as of last Monday, his doctor said Dad had at the most, a week.
