i'm lukewarm on kerry but yes, voting for him anyway.

at this point, i think it may be more the culture itself than kerry the individual that prevents him from running any kind of meaningful campaign. regardless of what anyone says, there's no room anymore for genuine political discourse because the media doesn't permit it. trivia reigns these days.

i don't know that much about kerry except that he's not bush, and for now, that will have to do.

Indeed - by "I hate Kerry," I really mean "I hate the Democratic party." Said party concerns itself with winning elections first, and with the actual issues second. But then, if it concerned itself primarily with issues, it would never win any election in America.

I wish there was a person could vote for on grounds other than "he's not Bush". Basically, I want to have my cake and eat it, too.

Blech and blech again...I've come around to agree (sort of) with "Hot" Karl on this one: Kerry is not worth voting for. I don't agree with said Karl in thinking that 4 more years of Bush might actually shock voters/the public into enacting some real change (because I think 4 more years would irrevocably fuck up untold amounts of shit, and also that most of the public is just...dumb. and/or oppressed), but I cannot and will not bring myself to vote for the lesser of two assholes. Or for Nader. I'm writing in Ed Asner or something, goddammit.

True that Kerry is nearly as much of an assface as Bush, but there is one huge difference: Kerry will not start any more wars and will minimize the damage we're doing in Iraq; Bush probably WILL start more wars, or at best, drag out the Iraq mess as long as possible. Given the amount of people who will die due solely to Bush being in office, I think that alone justifies a vote for Kerry. (And yes, I'm over-simplifying the issues... eat it.)

All I can say is: I have no confidence that Kerry will minimize damage in Iraq--it's already done. People in the middle east who hate america don't give two shits overall who our president is--the fact is that we've once more come into their homes and fucked them up. Note how you don't hear much about the "success" in Afghanistan, which has been fucked up over western issues for decades. In any possible scenario, the situation over there is going to bite us in the ass for the foreseeable future, especially as oil resources dwindle and we get more desperate for them. If not for that, and Israel (on which subject don't get me started), we wouldn't even be waxing our collective cock over there. If you want evidence of the validity of that statement, look at Africa, or Haiti.
In short, I would tell YOU to eat it, but I won't. Because your mother already came along and ate it. Then shat it out, ate the shit, puked it up, and--yes--ate it again.

I'm not saying he'll necessarily fix the problem ("minimize" was not really the right word), but I have full confidence that he will not fuck up the existing situation more than Bush. Or, Bush may very well likely get us into a conflict with Iran. And at an extreme level, if anyone is going to reinstate the draft, it'll be Bush, not Kerry.

So, I think Kerry = less dying than Bush. Not that Kerry won't cause dying himself, but "less death" wins my vote. (USA! USA!)

If the "it" you are referring to means your Mom, then I say YES.
