Dude, know what's awesome? Me.

I fuckin totally got new jeans the other day. And I got a hair cut. Which is grand, because my hair was stupid and I've been wearing the same pair of torn jeans for a month straight, and I was starting to look like an extra from Beverly Hills 90210. Which might sound cool, but trust me, it wasn't. I'm especially psyched about the jeans, because ( Read more... )

I wanna new bike.
One that don't make me sick.
One that don't make me feel ten feet tall.
One that don't make me feel three feet thick.

Are those the original lyrics (minus your "bike/drug" substition)? Cuz if so, that's a way freakier song than I ever gave it credit for.

Mostly, I went to check now. I made up the third line, thinking like high or dizzy. But the third line should be: "One that won't make me crash my car."

I can't decide which is cooler.

you are pretty awesome. and i don't know, i have a tv, but i never watch it, unless i want to fuel my smoldering inarticulate rage. i don't really know what the kids are watching these days, and i don't really mind. i just watch antiques roadshow and knit sweaters for the grandkids.

i was looking in the music section at target the other day, particularly the hip-hop endcap, and it just seemed like such a laughable bling-bling cliche, all the more so because i'd never heard of any of them. it just seemed like some kind of parody. pop culture is all oblivious self-parody.

ikea sells cheap dishes. we bought a set a few weeks ago. it was good and very swedish. i liked it. the end.

p.s. if my job gets outsourced and you do buy a couch, can i come live on it?

True that about pop culture. It's so fucking nauseating these days -- how did it get to this point? Or perhaps it's been this bad for a long time and I'm just becoming more and more crotchety in my old age. Hip-hop especially, though plenty of the current rock selection is just as ridiculous (The Bravery, et al). I keep hoping the there will be a major backlash against this materialistic "bling-bling" garbage, ala the hair-metal backlash in the 90's.

Anyway, Ikea is swell for cheap yet not-ugly stuff. I got an awesome kitchen table and chairs from there that are hottt and cost me like $0.02.

And yes, if I ever get a couch, you can totally move in. Or you can move in now, if you bring your own couch (byoc).

Re: The Bravery. While it may be le gay, Blender is good for SOME things--like exposing the fact that said band's singer and keyboardist were formerly in a ska band called Skabba the Hutt. And that the dude (singer) had really bad blond dreads. And, oh yeah: THIS WAS IN 1999.
If that doesn't scream longstanding indie hipster cred, I dunno what does.
Also: Don't kid yourself about pop culture: It's always been shit.

forget the TV and the couch, get the bike. Get a couch once it is cold outside. Or don't buy a monthly metro card for the entire summer, only ride the subway when you have to and use the left over money to bike a new bike.

i like how you wrote "bike a new bike." you have a one-track mind. heh. get it? one-track mind.

The problem is, I already have a bike. I don't have a couch. The not-buying-a-metrocard idea is interesting, though. I'll have to consider that.
