Upon watching Fullmetal Alchemist for the first time, I instantly connected the Ishbalites with Middle Easterners in general, although I kept thinking of Iraq, for some reason. The creator of the series (the anime, at least) seemed to have paid attention to middle eastern culture, though. Alchemy is made to be regarded like devil worship ^^;

The only anime I could find that was intensively Arabian-oriented was Arabian Nights, Sinbad's Adventures. It's quite old, and aimed at younger audience, though. I don't watch as much anime as I used to five years ago, but I have noticed that if anything Arabic is included, it would only be trivial, as in the design of clothes/setting.

If you ever get a chance to watch Cowboy Bebop (are they still airing it?), you'll notice that the population of Venus in the series is based greatly on the Middle East, from the character design to the setting. It was quite amusing to watch :)

i havent seen full metal yet. mostly cuz the art hurts my eyes. i'm used to/appreciate traditional anime styles over this newer one, where they seem so lazy in their animation/drawing/coloring.

but i know i've heard its good. :)

and...trowa was my favorite ;)
