Saturday night, I discovered that suddenly my credit card wasn't being accepted, which was a major problem since I had four dollars in cash, half a tank of gas, and my good looks to get me through the week until Friday. I assumed it was due to fraud prevention, but I had to wait until monday to talk to someone in person. I found out the reason ( Read more... )

Woke up bright and early Saturday to go to Denali National Park with two co-workers, a 2 hour trip down. It's a beautiful area, and the Denali Camp/Fort/Park whatever they call the little resort area by the park was very beautiful. Today, I travelled the 80+ miles to Clear Air Force Station. When I got there, the gate officer explained that they normally did not let people on base unless they had credentials (check), a military card (no check), and an air force base affiliation (again, no check). I click "post." I go pee. no sooner do I start to piss do I here a knock on the door.

"Hold on!" I say. I put on some pants and a shirt.

Another knock.

So, I'm sitting in the portland airport thinking this trip's first two main blunders.

a) I left my non-work belt at J.R.'s house.

b) I got to the airport three hours early, because I thought my plane departed at 3:42, when it turns out to depart at 4:58.

At least I have some Wendy's Chili, broadband internet, and DVDs to watch.

A sad conclusion was reached today when I realize that my family, even after twenty five years of familiarity, does not know me very well. I say this after a discussion with my own mother, even though I proclaimed that a recent date was fine, felt that I meant that in a very negative way.
