Thoughts About Episode 1 of the xxxHolic Live Action Series

I just got finished watching the first episode and thought that it was kind of boring and a little weird. Maybe if I watch more episodes it will grow on me? What did everyone else think of it?

P.S. Was anyone else surprised by Himawari this episode? Because I was kind of going WTF. She just seemed off to me.

actually ep 2 is up too. i like ep 2 better...
it seems there won't be much, if any, comedy in the live action. i agree that himawari seems off... but i love yuuko's clothes so much. seeing them live feels good...

I agree on Himawari being off. Sure, I see her screaming, but consoling Wata, not shaking his hand off and running for the hills, and then brushing off what happened the next day. Watanuki's not a comedic spaz and Doumeki's more distant than I thought he would be, considering they've got an established relationship as acquaintances in Hima's circle. I'm going to chalk it up to making the series be a bit more realistic, as far as how a modern high schooler would take this in, and the fact that this is the beginning of the series, before the sacrifices begin. (I'm not sure it was the right call to give L-A Wata a mom, as well. But that's swinging the canon baton around. I'm going to treat this as an AU.) In summation: I was bored too! Have hope.

I… I didn't like any of the episodes they've released so far. ): Watanuki is so serious and apathetic and so not Watanuki… Doumeki said his lines as if he were reading a textbook out loud during classes, and I agree with you about Himawari-chan. I might still watch one or two more episodes, but if it doesn't get any better, no matter how much I like the series, I'm probably dropping the live action.

(Also, I wonder how they're going to wrap the series up without Tsubasa…)

No, I agree. Watanuki in LA looks really boring. Where's the nonstop ranting? Flailing?? Himawari-chan looks less cute too. The only saving grace from this series are Yuko's getup. Personally I don't really like Yuko's actress, she looks too… masculine? lmao I dunno. And Doumeki is so good so far. But you couldn't do a bad job with stoic character with not much lines to begin with…
