Series 7 (& even Series 6) compared to Series 5, there's been a drastic change in tone definitely. I think once Series 6 hit, things got really serious, which produced some interesting elements, but what made Series 5 great was it's all around lightheartedness & sense of magic. I think sometimes when a show starts taking itself more seriously, they don't realize the subtle things that made it great & focus on other things. It's a self-improvement sort of mentality but people tend not to see their own natural "beauty". I think one of the major differences between Series 7 and Series 5 is that Series 7 is trying to make each of these episodes into one huge "movie" within themselves. Especially when "Asylum of the Daleks" hit, I was thinking, "Why do they feel like they need to make it like a movie? It's not a particularly bad idea within itself, but Doctor Who is a TV Show. I'm not watching it because I want to watch a movie." Since I enjoyed "Dinosaurs on a Spaceship" though, I've gotten more used to the change & am going to
