I'm glad you laughed, it really wasn't a dig at Aiba. :-)
Maybe if one's role is to be the comic relief, or the innocent, it becomes troublesome to break out of that character? I remember that during one of the Share House corners on Himitsu no Arashi-chan, Ninomiya started to say that Aiba was actually pretty skilled and acted clumsy because it was more interesting for TV, and Aiba stopped him because it was "messing with his image," or something like that.
Or maybe he is a little shy. I do remember the Hasegawa Jun episode, and thought at the time, of course he has to make a joke out of his "walk."
Seeing so much of them on television really is kind of a trip. You feel like you "know" them, but you don't really know what's true or not. I like the idea that he is a little shy, though.
