In my experience, Arashi fans are very generous. They share a lot. Today I was thinking about a certain kind of sharing that goes on-the sharing of information-that I think not only bespeaks Arashi fans’ generosity, but also builds the fandom (and makes somebody money-be happy, Johnny-san!).
Yesterday, if you were an even somewhat plugged-in Arashi fan, you saw it all over Twitter, Tumblr, LiveJournal . . . and probably many other commonly used blogging or social media sites.
Finally! The long-awaited AraFes DVD! Not to mention the new Shinigami-kun single!
Fans shared the information, shared links to pages, made recommendations on sites from which to purchase, explained shipping choices and charges to first-time buyers, noted the differences between the first press regular DVDs and BluRay DVDs, and more.
They basically fan-girled their hearts out, which I think fanned the enthusiasm of other members of the Arashi fandom. Fantastic, right?
The information they shared probably also helped to sell a bunch of merchandise. Arashi fans were actually increasing competition for the limited number of first press DVDs-and doing it happily because they want others to be a part of their happiness. I don’t know if that last statement is true, but I want to believe it is. I think many fans think that it is more important to share the joy than to keep it all for themselves-which is really nice.
I bought a copy of the AraFes DVD based on a post in arashi_on made by someone who had to leave for work, but took the time to let others know about the release. Arashi fans, thank you for sharing.
:-)
PS Somehow, even though I've seen this already, I think I'm going to be thrilled to see it on the DVD:
