Dimples: a Point of Interest. Because calling it an Obsession would be scary, right?
For some reason, I only just noticed that Aiba has dimples. I think it's plural, not singular, because although the one on his left cheek seems less pronounced, I think it's there. And they're not typical dimples, they almost seem like-hollows? Because they're long and not sharp. But they're still a nice part of a nice smile. If I was a rabid fan, I suppose I would have noticed whether they become more pronounced when he's thinner, or something-guess I have to work on that.
After noticing Aiba's dimples, I noticed Ohno has one too. I doesn't show when he smiles, but I think I saw it once when he pouted on Arashi ni Shiyagare. It's sharp and deep and small and and located below the right corner of his mouth. I think. I only saw it once, so maybe Ohno's dimple is a Bigfoot/Nessie kind of thing-it exists if you believe in it.
Tonight, I watched Nino's movie "Door to Door." Nino kind of had a dimple in his right cheek (a longish one, like Aiba) that appeared when he made a face and smiled.
I've always thought fandom was about liking (or loving) a product, or persona, or performance. But liking a dimple that may or may not exist?
Hm. Also, if this were the kind of post I'd like to read, it would have photographic evidence to support the statements above, right?
~ which is doesn't-FAIL (-_-;) ~
Non-Arashi related UPDATE: I just saw an old (2006) Shonen Club Premium episode with Subaru of Kanjani8. Both Kokubun and Subaru have dimples, too. Yeah . . . it's cute.
UPDATE: March 1, 2012:
Ohno's elusive dimples (there are two!) exist! Next . . . Sasquatch. Or maybe Aiba with facial hair . . .
UPDATE: November 23, 2012
UPDATE: No sasquatch yet, but here's a yeti.
