five times they say hello for sushikabob89

When Wooyoung was five years old, he discovered he had an illness. It wasn't your normal sort of illness, where the doctors would look you over with machines and wires and tell you that you only had so many days, months, years to live; no, it was a very odd illness that no one in the world had ever come across. They hooked him up with wires to all those machines and tried to find out what caused it, why he had this illness and what made him tick, as it were, but they never did find out anything.

When Wooyoung was five years old, he went forward in time and saw himself at twenty. He told himself he was in love.

1. When Wooyoung turns twelve, he goes forward in time again. It's a little after his bedtime, and he's up reading like he's not supposed to.

Or at least, he was. Now he's sitting on the creek side that's next to his house, where he frequents often, watching the water bubble and rush over the rocks. There's someone else next to him, however. It's a boy probably a good five or six years Wooyoung's senior, his eyes wide, beautiful even in shock. "How- what the hell just happened?" he says after a moment, hesitant as he takes a step closer to Wooyoung.

"I time-traveled," Wooyoung replies, smiling sheepishly. "It's an illness I have, or something."

"Huh," the boy says, bemused, looking like he's not quite sure he wants to believe Wooyoung. Wooyoung imagines he does, though, because how else could someone suddenly appear in front of you like this? In the lull of conversation, Wooyoung takes the boy in; now that his face is kind of relaxed, Wooyoung can see he's a very pretty person, almost like a girl, or perhaps a baby - only he's a boy. "Why an illness?" the boy finally says.

Wooyoung shrugs, kicking at a small rock near his foot. "I don't know. It's what the doctors call it," he says, "Why else would I be able to do it?"

The boy tilts his head. "Well, if I could time-travel, I think I'd call it a gift," he says after a thoughtful pause.

Wooyoung likes that. He likes it a lot better than being thought of as ill, at least, and smiles in appreciation. The boy smiles back, and Wooyoung gets that funny light-headed feeling he has whenever the girls at school giggle over his jokes. "I've never thought of it that way," he says, holding out his hand. "I'm Wooyoung. Jang Wooyoung."

"Nichkhun," the boy - Nichkhun - says, taking Wooyoung's hand. "Hello, Wooyoung-sshi."

2. Wooyoung meets himself again when he's fourteen (and twenty-five). But this time, there's someone with him. Someone Wooyoung has already met. "Hello, Wooyoung-ah," Nichkhun says, beaming.

Wooyoung blinks, a little confused over the informality, and also over the fact that he's apparently friends with Nichkhun when he's older. "How do I know you?" he asks Nichkhun, "I mean, now, and myself there-" He points to his older self. "Not me."

His older self laughs along with Nichkhun. But it's Nichkhun that answers. "We met shortly after you and I met, actually. I just moved into the house next door and was taking a look around." Nichkhun glances over at the older Wooyoung, and his gaze is soft, smile only a light quirk of lips. It's the type of look Wooyoung's seen his parents give each other. "You were very out of breath."

Wooyoung pauses before trying to ask how old he was when this happened; it's what keeps him from finding out - his visit this time is only mere minutes long and he's back in his own timeline before he can even open his mouth to speak.

3. When he's fifteen, Wooyoung travels forward again, and this time his older self is much, much older than the previous times. He's middle-aged, at least, his hair is graying and the beginnings of wrinkles are setting into the corners of his mouth and eyes. Nichkhun is again with his older self, looking much the same way. "Hello, Wooyoung-ah," Nichkhun says, his voice a little rougher, but still pleasant to the ears.

"Hello, hyung," Wooyoung says, then asks what's been on his mind since the last time. "What are we to each other?" It's not necessarily directed at just one of them.

His older self laughs louder than Nichkhun, who bumps him with a shoulder while chuckling in a more reserved way. Wooyoung's older self is the one who answers his question this time, and he supposes maybe that's a good thing considering what he just asked. "We were friends at first, and now we're more," he tells Wooyoung bluntly, grinning; Wooyoung doesn't miss the way his older self's hand finds Nichkhun's easily. "Don't you feel it?"

Wooyoung considers this, glancing over to find Nichkhun watching him intently, though smiling. His stomach tightens and he feels light-headed, staring into those drowning-deep eyes. "Yes," Wooyoung replies, quiet, and smiles.

4. Wooyoung is sixteen and some when he meets Nichkhun properly; his mother tells him a nice family with a boy his age have moved in next door and he immediately runs for his creek side. As Nichkhun had said, Wooyoung's very much out of breath by the time he makes it, but he's grinning and fit to burst with happiness when Nichkhun looks at him with those wide eyes all over again.

"Hello, Nichkhun hyung," Wooyoung says, holding back a kiss.

5. When Wooyoung is twenty, he meets his younger self. Nichkhun is visiting family in Thailand, so Wooyoung knows now why Nichkhun was absent this first time he traveled. He tells his younger self with a happy smile that he's - he will be - in love, and that this person gave him a whole new meaning to life.

("Hello, Wooyoung-ah," Nichkhun says, sliding arms around Wooyoung's waist.

"Welcome home," Wooyoung replies, seals it with a kiss.)

five times jonghyun beat minho at something for scylladakylla

1. When they were trainees, Minho used to hover outside the studio Jonghyun did his vocal lessons in. He'd stand there, watching through the small window on the door as Jonghyun closed his eyes and sang from deep somewhere inside of himself. Jonghyun would pull notes from that place and turn them to melody in the air, sweet and beautiful.

Minho still watches him sometimes, when he's sitting on his bed going over the sheet music for their latest single. Jonghyun may never know it, but every time he sings, Minho wants to both punch something and kiss Jonghyun breathless, to see if maybe some of the melody will come to him.

2. "Hey, want to go play a game?" Jonghyun asks, clearly bored. It's etched into the lines of his face, pulled down taut.

Minho nods assent and they go through the games; Jonghyun's not a regular player like Minho, so Minho picks out the easiest few he has for Jonghyun to choose from. "That one looks good," Jonghyun says, grabbing said game. He flashes Minho a grin and heads for the console.

When they begin, Minho considers going easy on Jonghyun, but Jonghyun's a lot better than Minho expected him to be. Halfway into the game Minho's playing as hard as he would against the game itself, cursing beneath Jonghyun's triumphant whoops whenever Jonghyun gets ahead of him. "Want me to go easy on you?" Jonghyun teases, laughing.

"No," Minho says flatly, spurred on by the taunt. His fingers start to ache from pressing the keys so hard, but he's not about to give in. He doesn't have to, however, because by the end of the game, it's easy to see that Jonghyun's going to win whether Minho likes it or not.

Minho doesn't like it, but it's hard to be too angry when Jonghyun's smile is so bright.

3. "Race you to the pole," Jonghyun says during their morning run, smacking Minho's shoulder. Kibum's too tired and snappy this morning for Jonghyun to tease and play with, and Jinki's conversing with Taemin about some of their new dance moves. Minho's tired, too, but he's never been one to back down from a challenge, so when Jonghyun takes off in a burst of speed, Minho pushes himself to catch up.

He never does catch up, but Jonghyun grins and slings an arm around his shoulder when he passes the pole, telling him he was so close and Jonghyun wasn't sure he was actually going to win. Minho thinks maybe he's getting to where he doesn't mind so much, when Jonghyun beats him at something.

4. When Minho's college exam results come in, he waits until later in the night to look at them, when everyone's asleep. It's not that he's afraid of what they'll say or anything, he just wants to privacy of the moment, to either congratulate or berate himself accordingly. When he slips from his bed, intending to make for the main room and its light, a sleepy voice mumbles, "Minho-yah, where're you going?"

Minho squints in the darkness, just barely making out Jonghyun twisting to try and get a good look at Minho as well. "To the kitchen for a drink of water," Minho lies, the papers behind his back.

"I heard paper rustling," Jonghyun says, sliding out of his bed with a stretch. "You're lying." He grins, jerking his head towards the kitchen. "I'll go too, and you can share your results with me while I make an honest man out of you."

"How do you know what they are?" Minho asks, following as Jonghyun tugs him along. "I haven't told anyone yet."

"It's about that time, right?" Jonghyun answers, pushing Minho into one of the chairs. He pats Minho's shoulders twice and heads for the sink. "Hurry, check them out! I can't understand how you've waited this long - I was so excited to see mine, I was shaking." A shiver seems to run down Jonghyun's back, like just the memory excites him all over again.

Minho turns away and is skimming the paper when there's hot breath against his neck and a glass being set down in front of him. "Wow, those aren't bad at all, Minho-yah," Jonghyun says, sending a shiver down Minho's back, this time. He's not wrong; most of the marks are very good, better than Minho expected. He's got a couple of subjects he'll need to work on, though.

"I did better in that," Jonghyun says, pointing. His cheek brushes Minho's temple, warm and smooth, raising goosebumps. "I can help you whenever you need it, just say the word. And I think Jinki's really good with that," Jonghyung points again, "So you can probably go to him, too."

"Thanks, hyung," Minho says, not minding so much that he didn't get this moment all to himself.

5. "What're you doing?" Jonghyun says, as he flops down on the couch beside Minho.

"Star-gazing," Minho deadpans without looking up from his book.

Jonghyun reaches over and covers the page with a hand. "Now what are you doing?" he repeats, snickering.

"Palm-reading," Minho says, flipping Jonghyun's hand over. "You're going to fall into a puddle tomorrow and you're also going to have a long, healthy life with forty-seven children."

"Huh," Jonghyun says, thoughtful. "Didn't see the children thing coming."

Minho looks up, confused. "What do you mean?"

Jonghyun watches him intently for a moment, maybe two or three. It occurs to Minho that he hadn't noticed how close Jonghyun was, and because of this Minho also realizes he's never quite noticed how dark Jonghyun's eyes are; the latter may also be that Minho's been trying to keep his distance since he started feeling like he wanted to be around Jonghyun more and more. Minho wonders how Jonghyun would react if one day he just gave into the urges he gets when he listens to Jonghyun sing, or if he just leaned over and kissed him right here, right now.

Jonghyun smiles just then, sudden and bright, says, "This is what I mean," and then kisses Minho.

There’s no melody given in this kiss, but what Minho gets is so much more.
