Friending Policy

Dec 31, 2012 00:00

This is a little weird because, well, I'm weird.

1. If I friend you, it's usually because I think we have a connection, which lately... will either be through music, movies, or Supernatural. If you friend me, you should feel that too.

2. If I friend you and you don't friend me back, that's okay. After all, it's ME reading you. I'm interested in what YOU have to say.

3. If you friend me and I don't friend you back or friend back right away, please don't be upset. I have to be interested in what you write about as well, and I have to see our common thread.

4. If we're mutual LJ friends, then this means we trust each other. This means that we keep our confessions and creations secret. I don't think I need to say that, but just in case.

5. I try to keep my new LJ friends for at least six months to a year. I figured that that's enough time for someone to honestly get to know me and vice versa. If we don't feel the connection, then so be it. It happens. If we pass that time period and we're both on each other's flist, then yays!

6. Sudden defriending sometimes hurts my feelings, but if I haven't left you a comment in three months, then it's a safe bet that I won't be offended. In the same vein, I promise I won't do the "Comment if you want to stay friended" entry. I learned the hard way that that's just a waste of time. I realize that people and friendships change, but I'm not going to beg for people to keep me, and I'm not going to make you beg for me to keep you. That's just not cool anymore.
