Shin splints suck.

I think I'm going to have to take a week or two haitus from running. The shin splints are officially crippling. As in I had to walk the last half mile of a run due to the pain. And I am no stranger to running through pain. Bah.

In other news, Bobby owes me one V3+ and one V4-.

I drink milk, but I also take Tums these days simply for the calcium. So I shouldn't have osteoporosis yet.

I pray, at least.

You may be toeing off too much. Too much 'spring' in your step. This overworks the shin muscle (tibialis anterior).

Next time you run, try a more shuffling-type step, using your upper leg muscles to lift the foot off the ground rather than pushing off with the front of the foot, and keeping your feet somewhat limp and relaxed.

This is what cured the shin splints for me. No amount of running or stretching helped.

Disclaimer: I'm not a doctor, but I have seen them portrayed by actors on television.

God, that's the first time I've been told I have too much spring in my step.

It may be hard to keep it up on all these hills, but I'll give it a try.

Ahhh...shin splints...welcome to the runner's world! I think after you get over your first shin splints, you're officially a runner. So congrats! Hopefully, they'll get better soon.

Climbing V3+ and V4's eh? So jealous! You'll be climbing circles around me next time I see you!
