Ever notice that in places like Manila its really easy to find fix-it places and repair shops that fix things for cheap? Whereas in Hong Kong or the US (places where people have more disposable income) it becomes prohibitively expensive and quite rare to find fix-it shops? That makes me sad. I do believe that things should be fixed and reused again if they can be fairly easily (like shoes). Instead, they just get thrown away (and shoes are not recyclable, unless they are plastic flip flops). Boo.

i never quite noticed that. that's kind of interesting. what do you think this says about the societies?
