Edith carefully hoisted herself off of the sofa and waddled to the phone.
“Hello?”
“Edith, it’s me… Anthony.”
“Yes, I gathered that much.” She laughed. “How’s London?”
“Dreary. I miss you, darling.”
“And I you.”
“How’s the little one?”
Edith grinned, her free hand sliding down to her swollen belly.
“Rather eager to get out. Hasn’t stopped moving all day. When are you coming home?”
“Soon, my dear. Soon.” Her smile faded slightly as a sharp pain shot through her stomach. A small groan escaping her lips. “Edith?”
“I think you’ll need to make that sooner.”
