Edith sighed contentedly, nestling into her husband’s side. His good arm wrapped around her, fingers tracing patters on her smooth, bare back.
“We should get up soon.” Anthony said, breaking the silence.
“Mmm, or we could stay here.” She suggested, sliding her hand down his side.
“Can hardly believe you were a shy virgin last night.” Anthony mused aloud.
“The difference a wedding night can make.” He felt her lips curl into a smile against his chest.
“We’ll miss the train,” He reminded her.
“London will still be there if we take the evening train.” Edith eased over so that she was lying on top of him.
“An excellent point, darling.” His injured arm had just enough strength to pull her down into a kiss.
“We could sped the morning here.”
“A brilliant notion.” The gentle thrust caused Edith to gasp.
“Thought so, my love.”
“Lovely way to spend our first morning.” She could only manage a nod, thrilled by her husband’s closeness.
“Anthony...” The sensation was still new to her, the power of it forcing her eyes shut while clinging to the body beneath her. “Oh, Anthony...”
She collapsed onto his chest, breathing heavily and trembling.
“I’m so glad you didn’t give up on me.” Anthony confessed, stroking his wife’s hair as she calmed down.
“Me too. Thank goodness I’m stubborn when it comes to you.” Edith laughed, shifting to her side of the bed. “I suppose we should get up.”
“We can wait a little longer.” Edith curled into his side again, holding onto him tightly. “London will be there tomorrow.”
