Demo Reel

So I'm going to LA in less than two months. I've decided that it's about time I make a reel. Problem is - I have no clue where to begin. I'm not really sure how to do it. Do you just compile visuals and put it to music? That's fine, it's just the only problem is... most things I've worked on I didn't shoot or really provide any of the visuals ( Read more... )

There was a possibility of it getting cancelled, but it made it through. It will still be on the air in the fall.

Oh hmm... maybe you're right? The listing was on my internship site, though. But it could possibly be out of date...

what craft are you looking to specialize in? most people cater their reel to the job they're looking for. if you want to get into children's media, i'd put clips together of anything child-friendly you may have worked on. also, it'd probably be smart to write out a project list of everything you worked on.

The lady's absolutely right. Your resume and your reel often change depending on where you're applying and what the job entails. Think about what skills you'll need and where you used them in projects and work. For places like Henson, where you'll be primarily reading scripts, focus on office work and producer credits. For those kinds of places, reels aren't always necessary. Make sure to ask your contact if they would like to see it before splicing into it again, too.

And of course, I'd be more than happy to look at your resume and cover letters. Just shoot them to my gmail.

Hey Suzy! That would actually be great! You can email them to me at my emerson address (I don't want to actually write any addresses here on livejournal due to spam). But please email them first and tell them I will be contacting them. Thanks so much!!
