Sometimes I really want to clock Wilson over the head. Like when he says to House, "I need you to tell me that you love me."

Because hello, House is the ultimate "words don't matter, actions do" guy.

And look what he did in the end.

And, I still have zilch muse to write with, despite now having all the time in the world to actually do so.

He did what Wilson asked him to. As he always does, whenever Wilson asks him to do something for Wilson instead of something that is actually good for House.

But I think even the evening after the dinner, when Wilson goes to visit House and asks "So, how do we do this?" it's clear even before House answers that Wilson has understood. That he gets it. What happens in the finale is just a corollary of a theorem that has already been repeatedly proven.

Take your time. The final arc was demanding emotionally and batshit crazy. Are you part of the rewatch community? For me it takes place at 2am, every week I think I'll make it and every week I end up ingloriously snoring. I wish I was young again.

I think in this instance I give Wilson a pass on that. He was telling House what *he* needs - Wilson needs to hear the words. He's dying, I think he's entitled to ask for what he needs, rather than what House wants to give.

And ultimately I think he does come to understand that House has been telling him that for a long time, without telling him. And interestingly Wilson backs away from his need to hear the words. Which is a shame really, because they had achieved some degree of openess between them and then backed away from telling each other what they feel.
