Big green line appeared on my beloved laptop screen today. I fear this is the beginning of the end :(

you can replace a screen. or plug a monitor into your laptop and make it a desktop. x

I think that's more in keeping with my budget. It's not too big and might be fixed if I take the case off... maybe... but Sparky is rather old now so this was inevitable :(

Sometimes screen problems are a connector working loose inside the casing somewhere. But getting inside a laptop and fixing it without breaking something else is often a rather difficult task. Worth a try if it's going to be junked otherwise, though.

Well I'm going to keep it until it's absolutely busted. I have a geeky enough boyfriend that I think he might be able to do this for me without breaking it, but not sure if it'll be worth the risk at the moment. Will have to think about it... I think it is a dodgy connector because the line disappears when the screen isn't receiving signal. Also, it seems to be changing width slightly... hope for my laptop yet! It's rather old so not entirely unexpected at least, some of the keys are going too.
