This is the initial posting of Ecumenoplis. My district will be called Promacon. As I am the site maintainer person thingie, Promacon will act as the capitol. The center of the government is located in the middle of a Chicago sized library. To get to the center, one must negotiate a labyrinth of bookshelves, containing every work of fiction, and ( Read more... )

Post a description of your district, both architecturaly and culturally. Don't feel bound by the laws of science, or logic, unless you want to be. Feel free to add or subtract as you see fit. Enough unique people, posting enough unique districts, should create a very interesting collage of a world.

Okay. Um... give me a bit to think about it, and I will. I like making up my own worlds.

I'm going to warn you up-front, I'm probably going to delineate the local political structure somewhat (possibly breaking the "no politics" rule) but that's just how my mind works. I always think of culture and politics as being kinda joined... not at the hip really, but maybe at the kneecap. I promise no thinly-veiled allegory to the real world.

I don't know how much creative energy I'll have after classes and work stuff, but this sounds like it could be fun. Are you going to assign where the different districts are located in relation to each other? Such as, could my area share a border with drl's district, but not with the capitol district?

I will leave locations up to the governors. Put it whereever you want. Assume That this planet has roughly the came climatological zones as Earth. Mass transit on a planet like this probably make border obsolete. On the other hand certain kinds of embargos would be interesting.

I don't remember if I clicked on the little 'add me' button before, so I just did it today... if that makes it two times, well, we'll just blame my addled brain. I think it's playing that pick up sticks game, which I want to call pick up sticks, but that sounds way to simple to be right.
I think I better go to bed before it decides to play hopscotch and use one of my eyeballs for the rock. (which would be silly of it, because the eyeball would always roll out of the square anyway.)
