Anyone know if there's some way to block lj-toys? Would Ad-Block work? I think it might be to blame for the fact that I've only been able to sporadically get at my friends-list since yesterday afternoon, and that my computer's crashed twice today after freezing while loading LJ. *pokes things*

Running Ad-block might not kill LJ-toys, but it would kill all the ads, and the amount of tabs you usually have open that might speed things up on its own.

Your flist opens ok for me from the uni wireless, but that obvs only shows posts that are unlocked.

I'd certainly give Adblock a go; it can't hurt, can it? I use it all the time.

Try NoScript. It'll keep LJ Toys from running (unless you want to). I use it to keep a lot of scripts from running on my pages. You can find it through the Addon finder in Firefox.

Ha, beat me to it! After hearing about the malware apps LJ was apparently sending out to Plus/Basic/not-logged-in Paid users, I thought getting NoScript and AdBlock was a very good idea.

Yeah, my work computer actually got hit by that. I was not pleased (but our VP also got hit by the same sort of thing that week too). I hadn't put the addons on my computer at work before that because I wasn't sure what IT would say, but after that, AdBlock and NoScript went on.

If AdBlock doesn't work, NoScript (link) definitely would - it's quite a formidable addon, and you can selectively banninate specific scripts by domain name level.

(I've noticed that the stats app, though I permit it under NoScript because it's an LJ-related app, does seem to time itself out and cause flist-page loading to drag a bit.)
