"Won't you at least eat?" she tries. It's not the first time she's asked this, and it won't be the last. And it's not like she's been eating either. It's hard to, when everything is falling apart. "Kaden, please, just talk to me."

He shakes his head to try and clear it. "I have eaten," he insists, even though he's not entirely sure when that was. Earlier today. Maybe yesterday? He realizes he doesn't know what day it is anymore.

At least he's been drinking water. Otherwise she might have to break down the door and strangle him. Either way... he's been at this so long. She needs him to quit. Try something else.
Or maybe she's just being selfish and wants to do something with her life.

"I'm on--I just need a few more days," he says, flipping through his notes again. "I almost have it, I know I do."
He gets up, fairly suddenly, running his fingers through his hair. He should probably shower, too, but that takes even more time away.
