[locked to Iris]Apologies for falling off the face of the earth without following up with you first. Did the information I gave to you help? I know we didn't get as much of a chance to talk as we might have under different circumstances, so if there's anything else you'd like to know or need information on, let me know

It's okay. [Except for the part where she's not.] You've got to have so many other things to do. It [a lot of scribbled-out things here] helped, yes. I've read it over so many times, don't worry. [Understatement.]
[Hard for her to keep calm while reading this next part. It's just so... everything she wants to grasp with both hands and just never let go.] I've made pacts before. I suppose I'd imagine that it would be a similar principle-- instead of forming a bond between yourself and a higher power, you're forming a bond between-- well, I guess I don't know who they'd be, do they? It might be that after all ( ... )

Do you think you'd have to choose, to form that bond between yourself and someone? It seems, just from this limited amount that you've told me here, that you might; not exactly how things work, but we're only going to be emulating it, unfortunately.
This is going to be a learning experience for both of us, I think. :) I'll teach you about this work, figure out the scientific logistics of everything, and you'll have to teach me about your alchemy. Have to say, I can't pass up something like that, now can I?
Now that I mention it, you wouldn't happen to have anything I could take a look at myself would you?

Choose? I admit, I [more things scribbled out here] did wonder. About that. But it was more along the lines of wishful thinking I suppose. I imagined a real angel couldn't choose. And I want to be a real angel. But you're right, it might help, if it's someone I really want to open my heart to.
Of course, if they'd have to want to open up to me, too, that doesn't leave too many people. The person I'd choose probably wouldn't accept me.
It really sounds like a great partnership, though! The learning I mean. Considering what we're talking about that could get confusing, heh. And yes, I have a whole ton of books and things I could lend you on alchemy, although not too many of the ones in this world talk about pacts. I'll see if Hermione has anything too.

Real guardian angels are unable to choose their wards; I'm sure mine wouldn't have chosen me, if she'd been given a choice, at least. :P Really, though, it's most wards that have the problem, and can even get violent when faced with a real guardian. Since this is completely experimental, it'd probably be a good idea to not introduce another unknown variable like that, and go with someone who knows what's going on. Keep it between consenting adults, as it were ( ... )
