it's been pretty relaxed for me in the past couple of weeks.  i haven't done a lick of work (well, except for the part where i took a final and wrote a 12 page paper...) and i even spent all of yesterday in my pj's.  hadn't done that in forever, so it was nice.  now that i've recuperated, though, it seems like time for an update.  so let's see how ( Read more... )

any ideas on what i should sing?

well, now that you mention it...... :-)

Adelaide is not a far stretch from some of the bossier gals in CFY. Not that "Adelaide's Lament" isn't overdone; I'm just sayin', it's in your power.

thanks for the suggestion. :) i'm still undecided about auditioning, but i'll keep it in mind. i've been trying to think which role(s) i'm interested in, and i think one of the bossier gals sounds most up my alley. :D

actually, i have a new reason for being undecided...i was looking at netheater411 and noticed that the winthrop players are putting on chicago this coming october. now that todd and i are going to be here until the end of january at least, i could, in theory, audition. i missed my chance to be in that show with MTG and, well, i think it would be a great challenge. and they have a director/choreographer, which in my opinion is the right way to do that show. do you know anything about that group? have you ever worked with them? it's a bit daunting for me to think of auditioning for a group with which i have absolutely no affiliation, but oh so tempting...

let me know if you do know anything about them? especially if you think it's not a good group to work with. thanks!!

I know nothing about the Winthrop Playmakers except that Winthrop was always hella far for me to go for a show.

That said, I toured their website, and ya gotta admire a company that puts up Proof, Seussical, and Midsummer Night's Dream in one season. Their choice of shows smacks of a board that wants to do new material - but the fact that they even have photos of doing The Odd Couple Female Version smacks of a regular audience that doesn't always like it. Still, they surely do enough musicals to have their ducks in a row. Somewhat sketchy production values (via the photos) but hey, Chicago is great with less set. They're an EMACT group as well, and they've participated in the EMACT festival, so they at least *want* to be a serious, proficient group.

Why not go for it? New groups don't bite. I learned that last year! (AlthoughI was mighty freaked out at first to be around people who didn't know me at all!)
